Foster Carers Celebration Event
Our annual foster carers celebration event was a great success, without a spare seat in the Richardson Suite at West Bromwich Albion today, (although certain members of staff made it clear that their allegiances lay ‘up the road’ towards the gold & black part of the Black Country!).
But football allegiances aside everyone had a great time, as always when there’s a group of our foster carers in a room together there was a lot of talking, as everyone was catching up and sharing news. But that’s a given – we’re not ‘Sandwell’s Biggest Family’ for nothing!
Highlight of the day was an inspirational talk by Nick Barwick, who grew up being fostered and freely admits he was ‘challenging’ as a child. But Nick explained the context of his behaviour and brilliantly demonstrated how this is key to understanding behaviour. Nick went on to tell us how he’s grown as a person, returned to education and now has a successful public speaking company and is a father who is determined that his children will have a better start in life.
All that and a bostin’ lunch too… we’ve a lot to celebrate in Sandwell!
