What is Kinship Care?

Kinship care is when a child cannot be cared for by their parents and is cared for by relatives, close family friends, or other adults who have a significant relationship with them.

It helps children remain connected to their family, identity, culture, community, and support networks.

Kinship arrangements can be formal (supported through legal arrangements) or informal (family-led care).
