Additional Short Breaks Launch

Today we celebrated the launch of our new Additional Short Breaks programme at Coneygre in Tipton. Short breaks away from family can be a fun and exciting way for children and young people with additional needs to learn new skills and make friends whilst providing parents and carers with a rest from caring responsibilities.

We were joined by around forty parents and carers who heard from Head of Service Natalie Sanders and co-facilitators Danny and Rachel from our Parent and Carer Forum Sandwell Parents Voices United. Guests also had the opportunity to meet with providers including Sandwell Parents for Disabled Children, KIDS, Progress, Sandwell Asian Family Support Service and 4 Community Trust.  

There was a wide range of information available from Sandwell Family Information Service and the Holiday and Food (HAF) programme team, but the highlight of the session was the tuck shop which was hosted by children from the Meadows School.
