Youth Justice Partnership Board Away Day

Staff from the Youth Justice Service attended the Annual Youth Justice Partnership Board yesterday. This is always a good opportunity for staff to come together to reflect on the support being provided to our young people in the criminal justice system.

The first part of the meeting looked at who our young people are, the communities they live in and what their needs are. This included feedback from parents/ carers and our young people. Consideration was then given to identify what improvements need to be made.

There was a presentation from Lacey Foster from restorative justice organisation - Remedi on the audit recently undertaken on our victims offer, highlighting our responsibilities to them under the 'Victims code of practice', the strengths of the work we already undertake and areas for our focus.

This was followed by Julia Pennington from Dignifi who gave a presentation about the Regional Disparity pathfinder and the work that will be undertaken across the region to address the disproportionality in both the youth justice system and wider systems.

It was an informative and reflective session that will help us shape our revised Youth Justice plan.
